Default Bright textures get pink tinge

Hi all,

I think my issue arose after the latest build of Guild Wars, the issue is to do with bright objects in game. For example:

I am currently in the Remains of Sahlahja, when I look around the sand gets a neon pink tinge to it. If I hold still the image is very bright but back to almost normal. I have tried to get a screen grab of this but as the grab is of a still object I am unable to capture this.

I have tried rolling my video card drivers back several versions (driver date: 13/04/2010) and even tried the latest ones but still get the same issue. I have tried other game like Audiosurf, this has bright objects in game but I am unable to replicate the issue. I have also removed the DAT file and let GW rebuild it, but still get the same issue.

My system setup is:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Ram: 6Gb
GFX: Nvidia 8800 Ultra
DX: Version 11

Can anyone tell me if this is a known issue as I have not been able to find any othergoogle results for it or other forum posts regarding this.

Thanks

Going out on a limb here, but have you checked your system for dust build up, especially the card? I've only had graphical corruption in GW a handful of times, and in all cases it was due to .dat file corruption, unsupported hardware/software, or overheating (due to airflow restriction and/or overclocking.)

unfortunately I have fully cleaned my PC last weekend. I try to keep it as clean as possible having 2 cats and the cat hair, what a pain :P

Thanks for the suggestions. I have just noticed today while farming Cloths of the Brotherhood in Glint's Challenge there is another glitch. The crystal walls somethimes flicker. This is happening on my PC and my wifes PC. We both use Nvidia cards although hers is a GeForce GT220 with the latest drivers.

Thansk for the input so far mechanizeddeath

On an old HP PC of mine, the trunks of Trees in Pre-Searing would always turn one solid bright blue color if looked at in the western direction. After many reinstalls of windows, guild wars reinstalls, new graphics cards, drivers, direct X updates, more RAM (all of these were not to fix the issue, just general over the years upgrades) I was never able to fix it. Might just be the combination of your card, the current build of GW and the drivers not quite working to get the shaders quite right.

Elder III: The CPU temp is at: 48C and the GPU is running at 58C These temps don't raise by much over time

Chrisworld: I was affraid of this. I might give my PC a full re-build over the weekend and a fresh install of everything. Farming in the Remains of Sahlahja is not even funny, half the time the screen is a wash with white and pink!!!!!

Reinstalls won't solve anything if you just reinstall the same versions of the drivers. The only thing that a reinstall could possibly help with is wiping your settings.

You may have better luck just tweaking the settings. What happens if you toggle the "post processing effects" and change the shader quality between low/medium/high in the graphics settings dialog in GW? Try turning on/off anti-aliasing, as that may interfere with shaders.

As a last resort, try tuning the settings in the nVidia control panel, maybe you can find something there that has an adverse effect on Guild Wars' graphics.

Stroon: Thanks for your very usefuil advice. I set all the settings to the minimum adn one by one turned them up to the max.

I can have all setting to the max, when I turn on "Enable post-porcess effects" this is when the problem re-occurs.

Does this mean the fault lies with a setting in the Nvidia video card settings?

Thanks
